What is wilderness skiing? The wilderness skis are short and wide skis that excel in deep untouched snow and they have been used by hunters and herders in the arctic for centuries. Wilderness skiing is a unique experience in the arctic nature and provides an easy way to explore the wilderness and snowy forests around Pyhätunturi. On our wilderness skiing tour you will get to ski in variable and undulating terrain in the arctic nature. The skis are easy-to-use and with the integrated skins it's possible to ski uphill terrain with rather good traction as well. The adjustable bindings of the skis will fit most winter boots easily.

With the skis you get to move silently in the snow and this gives a better chance of seeing some local wildlife such as different species of birds and rabbits during the tour. We'll also have a great chance of seeing abundance of different animal tracks on the snow while skiing and the views to the nearby big fells are amazing. We will stop for a light and nutritious meal and warm drinks by a camp fire during the tour to keep you energised.

Our wilderness skiing tours usually start around 10-11 AM or 3PM at Pyhä Ski Resort area and the duration of the tour is usually 3 hours. We also have longer tours such as a 4,5-5 hour half day tour and we can also arrange a full day tour for your liking so get in touch and we'll arrange a perfect tour for you!
